does anyone out there love dolls as much as I do. Sweet, lovable, and always there, these efogies of humans have been around for centuries. from the early days of cave men with their dolls made of corn husks, wood, and hide, to the moddern dolls so real with their skin of vinal and perfectly painted fingernails. what kind of dolls do you collect. do they have names? which one is your favorite, and what does it look like?

I used to collect dolls, but now I just have the ones that are the most meaningful to me. I have one named sarah, who is made of hard plastic and is about 2 feet tall; everything's hard plastic except for her hair and eyelashes. I also have one, which I actually have never named yet, who has a stuffed cloth bodty (not including the hands and head which are hard plastic), and she has a button on the center of her chest that makes a hardbeat sound when you press on it. I've had her since I was little, and I think she's one of the first dolls I've had. I also have an Amazine Amy doll, but I don't know whether I'll keep her or not; I might sell or give her away to someone who will have more time to play with her. I also have a little hard-plastic Precious Moments doll my sister gave me, but I don't remember if she already has a name but I haven't named her myself. I also have a stuffed doll of Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks that has one of those plastic rings on a string that you pull to make him talk. And finally, my favorite one of all of those is a doll I named Jesse. He has short yarn hair, a hard plastic head and slightly softer plastic hands (his head is large for his body and his hands are small), a stuffed fabric body, and his face is chubby with a little nose and wide-set little eyes. Jesse is my favorite because he is so different from other dolls I've seen.
Hi, Princess Leilani! *hugs* It’s good to see you again.
Wow! Okay boys and girls, now that was an awesome amazing and descriptively wonderful post right there! Aunt Lucy is sooooooooo pleased! It was so long that I had to open up a word document just to respond to it. I love that.
I had a doll like the first one. She was hard plastic with a rubber head and really curly hair that fell just past her shoulders. She had big eyes with really thick eyelashes, and she was wearing a velvet dress with lace trimming. I called her Ersula. No, not after the octopus lady. I was really in to George of the Jungle at that time, so ersula was a complement. I wonder if she and Sarah are the same type of doll.
Awww! You have a heartbeat baby/ I always wanted one as a kid. My friend Chad had heartbeat bears which were awesome, but we both wanted the doll version. I never told that he did. I always asked for twins, the idea being that when I got them, I would give him one.
I have an Amazing Amanda doll, but she’s a holy nightmare! Amy isn’t like that, is she? Amanda needs all these accesseries and if I haven’t bought one yet or if I don’t get the one she asks for in time, she gets sad. I don’t know. I think it’s too much work, personally. I wish there was a doll like that that didn’t need stuff to be happy.
Precious Moments Dolls are soooo cute. I’ve never seen one in hard plastic, though. Is the hair plastic too? My voice teacher used to collect the music boxes. She gave me a cloth one for Christmas with yarn hair and overalls on.
Animal dolls are some of those rare toys that defy categorization. Not quite a doll, not quite a stuffed animal. I had one too. It was the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz. He had a rubber head with fuz where the hair on a doll would be. He came with a certificate of authenticity and a little doll stand for display. That baby didn’t get displayed, though. I loved him flat, literally. Poor old guy. I always said I’d get another one but never did.
Aww! Jesse sounds absolutely adorable! I wonder what kind of doll he is. Boy dolls are almost always a joy. It’s because of how rare they are. The media advocates little girls playing with dolls, but it doesn’t look as favorably on little boys. Why people don’t want boys to exercise the nurturing instincts, I don’t know. No dollies for Jimmy, and then they wonder years later why Big James walks out on his kid. Hmmmm. Boys need taught just as much as girls how to protect little ones. And you know what I think? I think big kids like us need the practice too.

dolls scare me..like i'm so scared of them
Awww! I've heard of that, actually. I read a book about a lady who hated dolls as a child and all through her life but she loved fuzzy stuffed animals.
I'd like to get some of those nesting dolls. You can't play with them. they're for collecting purposes and display only. made of wood ... Ugh, can't describe things well this early in the morning. sorry.
Nesting dolls. Hmm. I'll have to look those up on google. How big are they?
I have a couple of porceline dolls, and I await the arrival of a vinal doll from collectablestoday.com. I love that site. Not only are the dolls incredibly real, but some are made to help charities such as breast cancer and treatment for premature babies. the dolls there are very expensive, but you have the option of paying in installments.

i have a few porslin dolls, and two dolls i played with when i was little that mean a lot to my past. they'll go to my daughter :d
Hi! I collect Disney dolls. I have Ariel, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Aurora. I have more of Ariel than any other one since Ariel is my favorite!
I love dolls. My room growing up had shelves going around 3 sides that were full of porcelain dolls. Every one had a name. I've still got most of them in storage. My favorites were the ones who looked real. I agree I think there should be more boy dolls, not just for little boys but little girls might like boy dolls to play with. My grandma had a very old warrior indian doll that I loved when I was a kid. Solomon's no doll but when I brought him home he was the same size as this boy baby doll that I have. When he was a couple months old I told him he was better than any baby doll. I'm goin to thin the herd a bit to make room for more dolls to play with and some antique beauties as well. I still want an American girl doll, Samantha and Kit or Molly. I know, I didn't grow out of dolls. I think they should make a realistic baby doll, not just eat sleep poop but make the fingers move the head turn, legs kick etc. Great practice for big kids. Those Amazing Amy dolls creeped me out. I did want a Baby loves to talk though. Did anyone ever get a baby Annabelle? Or Chatty Kathy. She was well before my time but I learned her song from watching old toy commercials on youtube. Tiffany.
So was this insanity who was believed to be a female actually a male? Sorry to take this topic in another direction, but I'm just wondering. Sort of reminds me of Tony Steele, who made 123456789 accounts. lol
